Overview of projects and operations – September 2025
While work at sea continues, we can already see the approaching end of the operational part carried out by Orlen Petrobaltic as part of the consortium.
We have completed the sixth and final F-POD service as part of one of the projects! For this purpose, we used SKOVEN, which proved to be an excellent service vessel. Our thoughts are now turning to October, when we will recover F-PODs from the water, thus completing the operational part of the project.
In the next project, at the turn of September and October, we want to perform the first F-POD service at the construction stage. This time, we are moving to a higher level – thanks to obtaining administrator access to SOMS accounts, MEWO can operate faster, bypassing the time-consuming MCC approval process. We believe that this solution will allow us to proceed with the project efficiently, without unnecessary delays.
Another express round of service work is now complete – mobilisation, operations and demobilisation took less than two days! This is top-tier efficiency. BRAVO, MEWO!
In August, we successfully completed the ROV inspection of the monopiles. We are in full readiness for the next tasks, waiting only for a green light from the Client.
Another intense month of projects went by. In September, we completed a geochemical survey campaign in cooperation with a new subcontractor. We also successfully concluded the third F-POD and AWAC service from the deck of the SKOVEN vessel. We are currently waiting for favourable weather conditions so that we can finally service the weather buoys, which is our top priority. We are also continuing our autumn campaign, monitoring the migration of birds and bats. Dr Lubecki was joined by the Sea Hunter vessel .
The progress of work for the Maritime Office in September was significant for all vessels, and we hope that by the beginning of October, all the ships will already be sailing in the Gdańsk Deep.
We stepped up our efforts and, in addition to another F-POD service in one of the areas, we also deployed F-PODs in two other areas, all from the SKOVEN vessel. The sea was rough at times and we experienced some jamming interference, but the crew ultimately did a great job – CONGRATULATIONS!
Offshore Corner
Hydro Team
Inspection of the gas pipeline is in progress. We have finished processing data from the Polish section.
We are processing data from the Maritime Office project, gradually approaching the completion of the survey work at the Słupsk Furrow.
MAG Team
The Magnetometer Team is currently undergoing another phase of training and self-development, consistently expanding its know-how. At the same time, while providing project support for the Maritime Office project, we performed post-processing tasks, contributing to the efficient completion of the work.
Seismo Team
Last month, the Seismo Team developed our internal ‘roadmap’ for MCS data processing – we produced a detailed matrix of algorithm naming and created a database of all the processes we have used so far, along with a detailed description of their parameterisation. The planned outcome is an increase in the time efficiency of the processing tasks in the future. Order must prevail!
In addition, in line with the principle that ‘it is never so good that it cannot be better,’ we held brainstorming sessions on what we can improve and what we can add to our current procedure. We discussed the areas identified, explored our university textbooks, professional literature, articles and publications, we analysed formulas, calculated curvilinear integrals, built matrices and… started writing jobs in the software! At the moment, the main areas of interest are: additional modules for reliable wavefield QC – QQC and SQM, verification of the SCAC process in terms of maintaining true amplitudes (which is important for analysing certain sediment properties), as well as an innovative approach to receiver statics in the context of high frequency performance.
Moreover, each team works with tenders, contributes to technical offers, and plans operations for upcoming tasks.
In summary, both the data processing teams and the survey personnel are working at full speed. Progress is soaring before our eyes, and their commitment is at its peak. The ‘Maritime Office’ and ‘Baltic Pipe’ projects are particularly challenging, but we are not giving up, our people are delivering a 300% effort. A big thank you for your commitment, strength and determination!
MEWO ON THE ROAD
The Polish Investment and Trade Agency (PAIH) hydrogen mission to Stavanger PAIH – trade event
The mission aimed to:
· promote Polish hydrogen technologies,
· establish business contacts with Norwegian partners,
· exchange knowledge and experience in the field of green technologies,
· showcase the potential of Polish companies in the H2 sector.
The participants included several Polish companies and our Clients – Gaz System, Orlen, PGI, etc. The event was focused on building relationships and exploring the hydrogen market.
Reconnaissance of the hydrogen market for MEWO – Considering current trends, hydrogen is primarily associated with Gasgrid and the pipeline between Finland and Germany.
An important part of the mission were the behind-the-scenes talks with representatives of the Polish Ministry of Foreign Affairs on problems (jamming, spoofing) and the security of critical infrastructure in the Baltic Sea.
Industrial Development Agency (ARP) industry group meeting – maritime sector
I had the opportunity to participate in a meeting of the maritime industry group in Gdańsk (on 10 September 2025), during which we not only initiated cooperation, but also set specific directions for action:
· expansion into non-European markets by means of a joint offer;
· participation in trade events – planning trips and building stands together;
· possibility of organising economic missions and presentations as speakers;
· developing a brand for the region and ensuring regular presence at major industry events.
The next meeting of the group will be held in late October. This is just the beginning but the potential of this cooperation is enormous.
Bałtyk 1 Supplier Day
‘Supplier Day’ was the first meeting devoted entirely to the Bałtyk 1 project – the largest and most advanced offshore wind farm being implemented in its second phase of offshore development in Poland. The purpose of the event was to:
· present cooperation opportunities for Polish companies,
· showcase the project assumptions,
· discuss the supply chain and purchase packages,
· build business relationships.
Bałtyk 1 project – key information
Ø Planned capacity: up to 1560 MW
Ø Capability of powering up to 2 million households
Ø Proportion of Polish companies involved in implementation: up to 45%
Ø Status: decision on environmental conditions, connection agreement with PSE, qualification for auction (December 2025)
A new element was the Five Flagship Programmes.
Implemented by Equinor and Polenergia, they support:
§ the development of a competitive supply chain,
§ the development of local competences,
§ promotion of innovation,
§ dialogue with business partners,
§ educational and environmental initiatives.
We held a series of talks, primarily with our Client – Equinor and Polenergia, as well as with our current and potential business partners.
Security Forum Szczecin
A conference devoted to the security of critical infrastructure of offshore wind farms and crisis management. The event attracted representatives of the defence sector, local governments, technology companies, and military experts.
The discussion panels addressed such topics as:
§ instruments for financing defence projects by BGK;
§ technologies for protecting critical infrastructure and OWFs (marine robotics, anti-drone systems);
§ building the competences of crisis response teams;
§ current threats in the Baltic Sea, and response procedures.
Blue Baltic Community Energy of the Future – scenarios, trends, breakthroughs
During the September meeting of the Blue Baltic Community, participants focused on the key challenges and opportunities related to the energy transition in the Baltic Sea region. The focus was on green energy development scenarios, innovative technologies and the impact of energy availability on the future of industry.
Jarosław Kumięga from the Marshal’s Office of the Pomorskie Voivodeship delivered a presentation on the local government’s current activities in supporting investments in renewable energy sources, including offshore wind energy. It was emphasised that the Pomerania region has the potential to become a leader in Poland’s green transition, and that the availability of clean energy may be a key factor in attracting new industrial projects.
Afterwards, the discussion was devoted to hydrogen technologies, the development of energy infrastructure, and the challenges related to the condition of the connection network. Attention was drawn to the need to locate new production facilities closer to energy sources (e.g. near nuclear power plants or offshore wind farms) – both for reasons of efficiency and safety, in the context of the growing risk of sabotage.
The meeting concluded with an exchange of ideas and visions that may have a real impact on the energy and economic future of Pomerania.
